2025 BMW R 1300 GS Triple Black Review – Ultimate Touring Motorcycle in India

2025 BMW R 1300 GS Triple Black

The BMW R 1300 GS Triple Black is the true king of long-distance touring motorcycles. Priced at ₹21.2 lakh (ex-showroom) in India, it is available in multiple variants and packs, allowing you to choose a configuration that suits your riding needs. In particular, the Triple Black variant stands out with its sleek and modern design. Unlike the previous R 1250 GS, the asymmetrical headlight has been replaced with a more symmetrical, stylish front end.

At the front of the bike, you get an electrically adjustable windscreen, handguards and turn signals, giving it both a practical and premium feel. The suspension incorporates BMW’s Telelever system, which primarily handles the steering while the main suspension ensures a smooth ride on a variety of terrains. The R 1300 GS comes with dual front disc brakes with four-piston calipers and a dual-piston rear setup, spoked tubeless rims, dual-purpose tyres and a single-sided swingarm at the rear that enhances both aesthetics and efficiency.

Powering the bike is a 1300 cc air-and-liquid-cooled boxer engine that produces 145 hp and 149 Nm of torque. The engine is extremely smooth and refined, with minimal vibration even at high speeds. Features like a centre stand, ride-height control, skid plate and luggage rack make it highly practical for touring. A 19-litre fuel tank ensures an impressive range, ideal for long rides.

The dashboard is packed with technology, with a high-resolution screen, navigation options, multiple riding modes (Dynamic, Enduro, Rain, Road), traction control, ABS, engine brake adjustment, TPMS and connectivity options for media and phone. You also get heated grips, cruise control and an intuitive multifunction controller that allows easy operation of all the electronics while riding.

Comfort is the main highlight. The seat is soft, sofa-like, and has a standard height of 850 mm with adjustable options. The windscreen does an exceptionally good job of reducing buffeting, and the ride height control allows for easy handling in traffic or when parking. On the road, the bike feels light despite its size, which is due to the bike’s balanced weight distribution.

In terms of performance, the R 1300 GS delivers smooth and buttery power across the entire rev range. Acceleration is strong, the midrange is strong, and top-end power is impressive without harsh vibrations. The gearbox has both a quick shifter and an auto blipper for clutchless upshifts and downshifts, making gear changes smooth and precise. The slipper clutch is light and responsive, perfect for long rides or aggressive downshifting.

The suspension feels like an air-suspended luxury car, easily absorbing bumps and providing a floating ride quality. Cornering is stable, and while feedback is a bit muted due to the comfort-oriented suspension, stability at high speeds is exceptional. Braking performance is excellent, with the front brakes providing strong bite and modulation, while the rear complements it perfectly.

With 15-16 km/l mileage and a generous fuel tank, long-distance travel is easy. Features like cruise control, heated grips and electronic ride adjustment make the ride more comfortable and convenient. Overall, the BMW R 1300 GS Triple Black is the perfect combination of power, comfort and technology, making it the ultimate choice for touring enthusiasts.
