Many car manufacturers are gearing up to launch new 7-seater SUVs in India, which will directly rival the Mahindra XUV700. These upcoming models will come with modern designs, premium features and competitive pricing in the segment. Let’s take a closer look at the three most anticipated SUVs.
Renault Boreal

Expected launch : mid-2026
Expected price: ₹17 lakh – ₹26 lakh (on-road)*
Renault has officially unveiled the Boreal SUV in international markets, and it is set to arrive in India by mid-2026. Designed to rival the Mahindra XUV700, the Boreal is expected to shake up the segment with Renault’s aggressive pricing and feature-packed approach.
Globally, the Boreal comes with a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine that produces 158 bhp and 270 Nm of torque, mated to a DCT automatic gearbox. While India-specific powertrain details are yet to be confirmed, the SUV is expected to retain most of its global features.
Highlights of the Boreal include dual 10-inch displays for infotainment and instrument cluster, ambient lighting, front memory seats with massage function for the driver, wireless charging, panoramic sunroof, Harman Kardon audio system, Level 2 ADAS and rear AC vents. With this extensive feature list and smart pricing, the Boreal could be the most attractive 7-seater car in its class.
Nissan 7-seater SUV

Expected launch: Late 2026
Expected price: ₹17 lakh – ₹26 lakh (on-road)*
Nissan is gearing up to enter the 7-seater SUV market with a new model based on the recently unveiled Tecton SUV. The brand aims to bring a tech-forward and premium offering to take on the XUV700 and its rivals.
Expected features include a large touchscreen infotainment system, wireless smartphone connectivity, 360-degree camera, ADAS suite, ventilated and powered seats and premium upholstery, which are desired by customers in this segment.
Under the hood, Nissan is likely to offer the 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine seen in its global models, with the possibility of introducing a hybrid powertrain for better efficiency. The new 7-seater SUV is likely to make its India debut by the end of 2026, offering a strong combination of style, comfort and safety.
Hyundai 7-seater SUV

Expected launch: 2027
Expected price: ₹18 lakh – ₹27 lakh (on-road)*
Hyundai is working on a new 7-seater SUV that sits above the Alcazar and will compete directly with the Mahindra XUV700. While its details remain limited, the new SUV is expected to borrow design cues and features from the popular Creta and Tucson.
Expected highlights include a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, Level 2 ADAS, connected car tech, and second-row captain or bench seat options. Hyundai may also introduce a 1.5-litre hybrid powertrain, which will focus on performance and efficiency.
While no official timeline has been announced, industry speculation points to a 2027 launch, making it one of Hyundai’s most anticipated upcoming models in India.
With the Renault Boreal, Nissan’s new 7-seater and Hyundai’s upcoming SUV, the competition for the Mahindra XUV700 is set to heat up. Each model promises a unique blend of technology, comfort and innovation – giving Indian SUV buyers more premium options than ever before.
