
Tesla has been talking about launching its car in India for many years and today it has come true with the launch of its first Model Y.
Tesla Model Y is Tesla’s sleek, crossover SUV that has entered the Indian market. Built on the same platform as the Model 3, the Model Y offers a premium driving experience with modern technology and impressive performance.

The Model Y RWD (rear-wheel drive) will be priced at around ₹59.89 lakh (ex-showroom), will offer a WLTP-certified range of around 500 km, and will do 0-100 km/h in 5.9 seconds.
The Model Y Long Range RWD will be priced at around ₹67.89 lakh (ex-showroom). It will offer a range of around 622 km, and a slightly faster 0-100 km/h time of 5.6 seconds.
Bookings are being made with a token fee of ₹22,000, with deliveries expected to begin in the third quarter of 2025, starting in the Indian cities of Mumbai, Delhi and Gurugram.
Charging and Battery
The fast-charging variant will offer a range of 238 – 267 km from just 15 minutes of charge.
Battery options include a 60kWh LFP pack for the standard RWD and a 75kWh NMC battery pack for the long-range variant.
While Tesla’s Supercharger network is yet to go live in India, buyers will have to rely on home charging and third-party fast chargers.
Interior and Features
The Tesla Model Y’s cabin features a 15.4″ minimalist touchscreen, and the Passal also gets an 8″ rear-seat screen.
Luxury features include heated and ventilated seats, ambient lighting, 9-speaker audio and 8 cameras supporting Tesla’s Autopilot system.
Interior themes include a choice of Classic Black or Elegant White, which gives a minimal premium feel.
Colors and Customization Options
The Model Y is available in six colors: Stealth Gray (standard),
plus Pearl White,
Diamond Black,
Glacier Blue,
Quicksilver and Ultra Red – with additional cost options ranging from ₹95,000 to ₹1.85 lakh.
Why Model Y matters in India
Tesla is planning to expand showrooms from Mumbai to Delhi, reflecting its strategic entry into India’s premium EV market. And India’s EV market is also gaining momentum.
