Mahindra is preparing to launch the updated 3-door version of Thar,
It seems that the new version of the 3-door will not have to wait long. Earlier too, we had talked about the updated 3-door version.
So here is a brief look at what is new for you.

Launch timeline.

The facelifted version of the 3-door Thar has already been spotted testing. And sources suggest that Mahindra can launch it in early August 2025 and possibly around Independence Day. And it is expected to be launched in the market by the end of 2025 or early 2026.

What’s new outside?

The iconic look of the Mahindra Thar has not been tampered with, but the facelift will come with some nice upgrades, including a new grille design, newly updated LED headlamps and tail-lamps, redesigned front and rear bumpers, a fresh set of 5-spoke alloy wheels, subtle changes to the fenders for a sporty stance. Despite the changes, the SUV still retains the bold and boxy design as before.

Interior and Features

The cabin now looks more modern and premium. Now there will be possible additions like a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 360-degree camera, ambient lighting and premium leatherette seats, 6-speaker sound system, auto-dimming IRVM, and new color themes inside, side curtain airbags joining the dual-airbag setup, it is the same but now with more comfort and features.

Engine and Performance

No major changes have been made to the engine. Mahindra will be offered with the current engine options.

1.5-litre diesel – 119 PS, manual.

2.2-litre diesel – 132 PS, with manual or automatic.

2.0-litre turbo-petrol – 152 PS, with manual or automatic.

Price

The current Thar 3-door starts at around ₹11.50 lakh and goes up to ₹17.60 lakh (ex-showroom). The facelifted version is likely to see a slight price hike due to new features.

Thar Electric

Mahindra is also pushing its Born Electric Thar very fast, information about the electric Thar is still limited, it is likely to be based on the new EV platform. The launch is not yet confirmed by the company, but it could happen in 1-2 years.
