BYD Sealion 7 Price & Variants in India

The BYD Sealion 7 has emerged as the most attractive luxury electric SUV in the sub-₹50 lakh segment in India. It is offered in two variants: Premium and Performance, priced from ₹48.9 lakh and ₹54.9 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively. The Premium variant uses a single rear motor and offers a claimed range of 567 km, while the Performance variant uses a dual-motor AWD system, which offers a slightly lower claimed range of 542 km but offers significantly more power. Both models share the same 82.56 kWh battery pack, but the Performance variant produces 523 hp and 690 Nm, enabling it to do 0-100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds. Its motors can spin up to an impressive 23,000 rpm, making it one of the fastest electric motors in the segment, and it uses BYD’s dense and durable blade battery technology.

Exterior Design

In terms of exterior design, the sealion 7 stands out with its coupe-style silhouette, sharp DRLs, projector headlamps, ADAS camera and radar setup, air curtains, 360-degree camera and a clean, futuristic front profile. It also gets a functional front with hydraulic struts and useful storage space. The SUV has a strong road presence thanks to its long side profile and 20-inch alloy wheels with 245/45 R20 tyres, red brake calipers and ventilated discs. The rear continues the coupe theme with a sloping roof, connected LED tail lamps, sporty spoiler and AWD badging. The boot is more spacious, featuring a powered tailgate, Dynaudio sound system components and a 60:40 split rear seat setup with additional hidden storage.

Interior Design

The cabin inside is also premium, with solid door weights, soft-touch materials, quality switches, leather upholstery and a good overall fit and finish that give it a premium feel. The rear seat space is supportive, generous with decent headroom and a flat floor, although the slightly low seat base creates a knee-deep position. Features include rear AC vents, USB/Type-C ports, wide armrests, a moonroof and three passengers can sit comfortably. The front cabin offers a more premium feel, almost like a German car, due to the layout, materials and detailing. Both the front seats are powered, ventilated and supportive, and the car gets double-glazed windows that help improve cabin insulation.

Up front in the cabin, the driver gets a leather-wrapped flat-bottom steering wheel, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a head-up display. The highlight of the interior is the large 15.6-inch rotatable touchscreen infotainment system. Its UI feels simple and is equipped with a host of features including full ADAS controls, energy management, vehicle drive mode settings, ambient lighting, seat ventilation settings, air purification and intelligent auto-window closing when outside air quality deteriorates. The 360-degree camera system offers excellent clarity and parking assistance with 2D and 3D views. Additional features include a 50W wireless charger, multiple drive modes (Snow, Eco, Normal, Sport), premium physical controls, a practical centre console and a spacious storage area.

Sealion 7 Safety

Safety is another strong point of the BYD Sealion 7, with a 5-star Euro NCAP rating, 11 airbags, ABS, EBD, traction control, stability control and a full ADAS suite. On the road, the Sealion 7 feels very quick thanks to its AWD system and instant electric torque. Eco mode also offers strong performance for daily driving. However, Sport mode is extremely aggressive and is best used on open and clear roads. Visibility is generally good, although the sloping coupe design does limit rearward visibility a bit. Braking performance is also strong, with consistent bite and good stability. NVH levels are excellent thanks to the EV powertrain and double-glazed windows, although the stiff suspension and low-profile tires cause significant thuds and vibrations on rough or uneven surfaces at low speeds. At highway speeds, the ride is well-stabilized and feels planted.

BYD Sealion 7 Range & Battery Performance

In real-world range testing, owners report around 400-420 km on the highway and up to 450-460 km in the city, depending on driving style and regenerative braking. While this is less than some less-powerful EVs, it is still impressive due to the Sealion 7’s performance and dual-motor setup. The BYD Sealion 7 offers exceptional performance, premium interiors, robust safety, futuristic technology and a striking design.
