The Porsche Cayenne is one of the most iconic luxury performance SUVs in the world. The Cayenne was first introduced in 2002, completely changing the way people viewed performance-oriented SUVs. The review you are reading here is of the third-generation facelifted Porsche Cayenne (2025), which is now available in India only with a petrol powertrain. Prices for the Porsche Cayenne start at ₹1.38 crore (ex-showroom), while the top-spec Cayenne GTS goes up to ₹1.94 crore. The GTS is also available in a more attractive coupe body style, which starts at ₹1.45 crore.
Interestingly, Porsche has already launched the fourth-generation Cayenne in India, which starts at ₹1.75 crore. The current generation has an internal code of E3 II and was designed by renowned designer Michael Maurer, who is also known for designing legendary cars like the Porsche 918 Spyder and McLaren P1.
Platform, Design and Road Presence
The 2025 Cayenne is built on Volkswagen Group’s MLB EVO platform, which it shares with top SUVs like the Lamborghini Urus, Bentley Bentayga, Audi Q7/Q8 and VW Touareg. This gives it a strong yet lightweight structure using a mix of aluminum and high-strength steel.
The Cayenne GTS gets a Sporty Design Package as standard, with an optional Carbon Exterior Package available at an additional cost. Up front, you get HD Matrix LED headlights with over 64,000 pixels, welcome lighting, animated indicators and Porsche’s signature four-point light design. The indicators are neatly integrated into the bonnet line, adding to the aggressive stance.
Other highlights include a panoramic sunroof, electrically adjustable heated mirrors, black roof rails (optional), rain-sensing wipers and thermally insulated glass for improved comfort.
Dimensions, capacity and wheels
The Porsche Cayenne GTS is 4.9 metres long, 2 metres wide and 1.7 metres high, with a ground clearance of 234 mm. It can wade through 525 mm of water, tow up to 3,500 kilograms, and has a turning radius of 12.1 metres, which is considered impressive for an SUV of this size.
It rides on 21-inch Sport Design alloy wheels as standard, which come with Pirelli P Zero tyres. Buyers can also opt for larger or different alloy designs. Braking duties are handled by large disc brakes, while carbon-ceramic brakes are available as a high-end option.
Rear design and boot space
At the rear, the Cayenne GTS offers a strong look with a high-gloss black diffuser, dark bronze sport exhaust, LED light strip and tinted taillamps. The SUV also gets aerodynamic underbody protection for stability at high speeds.
The boot space is very large, offering 772 litres, which expands significantly when the 40:20:40 split rear seats are folded. The boot also accommodates a foldable spare wheel, toolkit, lighting and a 12V power outlet.
Interior quality and rear seat comfort

Stepping into the cabin, the Cayenne GTS immediately gives off a premium feel. The cabin is filled with ambient lighting, high-quality leather upholstery, soft-touch surfaces and extensive customization options. Rear passengers are provided with AC vents, USB ports, seat heating and ventilation (optional), sun blinds, bottle holders and excellent legroom.
You can choose from multiple upholstery themes in the Cayenne, including black-and-red leather, race-tex and personalized scuff plates and seat belts.
Front Cabin and Technology
The front cabin offers a tech showcase experience. The highlight is Porsche’s 12.3-inch PCM infotainment system, which supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, navigation, voice control and performance data. An optional 10.9-inch passenger display is also available, allowing the co-driver to access navigation and media.
The 12.6-inch curved digital instrument cluster displays speed, RPM, navigation, G-force, drive modes and more. Other premium features include:
- Four-zone climate control
- Wireless charging
- Bose 14-speaker sound system (Burmester available as an option)
- Sport Chrono Package
- Head-up display (optional)
- A leather-wrapped GT Sport steering wheel with paddle shifters and drive mode selector completes the sporty feel.
Safety and driver assistance
Safety is top notch, with the Cayenne receiving a 5-star Euro NCAP rating. It comes with 9 airbags, ABS, traction control, lane change assist, 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise control, active parking assist, pedestrian protection, trailer stability management and more.
Engine, Performance and Driving Modes
Under the hood, the Porsche Cayenne GTS is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine, which produces 493 hp of power and 660 Nm of torque. It sprints from 0-100 km/h in just 4.4 seconds with a top speed of 275 km/h. Power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed Tiptronic S automatic gearbox.
Porsche also offers a 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine in the lower variant, which produces 348 hp of power and 500 Nm of torque. Both engines offer an average fuel efficiency of around 9 km/l with a 90-litre fuel tank.
Driving modes include Normal, Off-Road, Sport and Sport Plus, along with launch control, adaptive air suspension, PASM, torque vectoring and optional rear-wheel steering.
The 2025 Porsche Cayenne GTS is the perfect blend of luxury, performance, and everyday utility. It offers supercar-level acceleration, world-class interior refinement, cutting-edge technology, and true off-road capability, all wrapped up in a premium SUV package. Yes, it’s expensive, but for those who want a performance SUV that truly delivers on every front, the Cayenne GTS is in a league of its own.
