The sub-4 meter SUV segment in India continued its strong performance in July 2025, with a total of 55,763 units sold in July 2025, representing a monthly growth of 5.7% from 52,752 units in June 2025. This segment is one of the most competitive and popular in the Indian automotive market, accounting for almost half of the total SUV sales in the country.

Maruti Brezza maintained its position as the leader in the sub-4 meter segment by selling 14,065 units in July 2025, with a market share of 25.22%. Sales declined slightly by 3.04% compared to June, but steady demand and strong confidence factor in the Brezza’s range kept it comfortably at the top.
Tata Nexon (including EV variants) came in second with 12,825 units sold, giving it a market share of 22.99%. Unlike Brezza, Nexon saw a healthy growth of 10.54% on a month-on-month basis, which further cements its position as a strong contender in the segment, reflecting Tata’s build quality and growing interest among buyers.

Hyundai Venue secured the third position with sales of 8,054 units, which accounts for a market share of 14.44%. It was one of the fastest growing models in July which is a plus point for it, registering the highest month-on-month growth of 17.43%, an increase of 1,196 units over June 2025.
Kia Sonet is at the fourth position with 7,627 units sold, capturing 13.67% market share and showing a strong recovery with a 14.55% monthly growth. This performance has brought the Sonet closer to its average six-month sales figures.
Mahindra XUV 3XO maintained steady sales with 7,238 units sold, capturing 12.97% market share, and seeing a modest 2.1% month-on-month growth. However, its annual market share has declined by around 4%, indicating intense competition in the segment.
Skoda Kylaq made a significant impact in the segment by selling 3,377 units, giving it a market share of 6.05%. As a relatively new entrant, Kylaq’s presence shows the segment’s potential for new players and recorded a monthly growth of 5.66%, which is a good sign for Kylaq.
Despite challenging market conditions and stiff competition, the sub-4m SUV segment showed resilience. Hyundai Venue emerged as the growth leader with the highest month-on-month growth of 17.43%, followed by Kia Sonet at 14.55% and Tata Nexon at 10.54%.

Nissan Magnite captured a market share of 2.54% with sales of 1,420 units, which is a month-on-month growth of 8.14% for Magnite.
The newly launched Kia Syrus sold 834 units with a market share of 1.49%, showing a positive growth of 7.75% in its initial months.
The Renault Kiger faced significant challenges, selling only 323 units and achieving a market share of 0.57%, with sales falling by more than 400 units since June 2025, registering the biggest month-on-month decline of 57.21%.
