The Ferrari 849 Testarossa is Ferrari’s new plug-in hybrid supercar. Ferrari revealed it on September 9, 2025, as the direct successor to the Ferrari SF90 Stradale.
It brings back the legendary “Testarossa” name and combines it with modern hybrid performance. The result? More than 1,000 horsepower from a twin-turbo V8 and three electric motors.
Heritage: Why the Testarossa Name Matters
Ferrari has revived the Testarossa name to connect the past and the future.
The original inspiration comes from the historic “Testa Rossa” racing engine, such as the Ferrari 500 TR. Road car fans remember the iconic Ferrari Testarossa from the 1980s.
The new 849 Testarossa keeps that heritage alive while adding hybrid technology and record-breaking performance.
Ferrari places this car at the very top of its standard production range. It is not a limited edition. Customers can order it like any other series model.
A spider version also joins the lineup. It has a retractable hardtop that opens or closes in 14 seconds at speeds of up to 45 km/h.
Powertrain: How Ferrari reached 1,050 CV
At the heart of the 849 Testarossa is a revised 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, known internally as the F154FC.
V8 engine output:
- 830 CV (about 819 hp) at 7,500 rpm
- Produces 842 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm
- Specific output: 208 CV per litre
- 50 CV more than the SF90 Stradale
Ferrari has achieved the increase primarily through engine development. It also uses the largest turbocharger ever fitted to a road-going Ferrari V8.
Hybrid system:
Three electric motors add 220 hp:
- Two front motors for torque vectoring (RAC-e system) and all-wheel drive
- One rear motor (MGU-K derived from Ferrari’s Formula 1 technology)
Combined output reaches 1,050 hp.
A 7.45 kWh battery enables electric-only driving (eDrive mode) for up to 25 km. Drivers can move forward in urban areas with peace of mind if needed.
Power flows through an 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox with on-demand all-wheel drive.
Ferrari 849 Testarossa Official Performance Numbers
The Ferrari 849 Testarossa delivers extreme performance.
| Acceleration | Time |
|---|---|
| 0–100 km/h | Under 2.3 seconds |
| 0–200 km/h | 6.35 seconds |
| Top Speed | Over 330 km/h |
| Fiorano Lap Time | 1:17.5 |
Ferrari states that it laps the Fiorano circuit in 1 minute 17.500 seconds. That makes it 1.5 seconds faster than the SF90 Stradale.
Braking performance also impresses:
- 100 – 0 km/h: 28.5 meters
- 200 – 0 km/h: 108 meters
These figures confirm its position as Ferrari’s fastest regular production model to date.
Design and Aerodynamics
Ferrari drew inspiration from endurance prototypes like the Ferrari 512 S of the 1970s.
Features of the 849 Testarossa:
- Sharp, sculpted body lines
- Cab-forward profile
- Twin-tail rear design
Aerodynamics play a key role.
The car generates 415 kg of downforce at 250 km/h. This figure is 25 kg more than the SF90.
Active rear spoilers and vortex generators improve airflow efficiency. Ferrari has also increased cooling efficiency by 15 percent.
Interior: Modern yet mechanical

Inside, the cockpit takes inspiration from the Ferrari F80 hypercar.
Key features include:
- Mechanical steering wheel buttons (instead of touch-sensitive controls)
- Central gear selector gate design
- Fully configurable digital display
- Apple CarPlay integration
Ferrari has focused on making the cabin more tactile and less digital than the SF90. Drivers now get physical feedback when pressing the controls.
Ferrari 849 Testarossa Chassis and Dynamics
Ferrari has engineered the 849 Testarossa to maintain strong performance despite its higher power.
Key figures:
- Dry weight: 1,570 kg
- Power-to-weight ratio: 1.5 kg per CV
Despite the 50 CV increase, the car matches the power-to-weight ratio of the SF90. Ferrari achieved this by using lightweight materials such as titanium fasteners.
Technology highlights:
- Five-Estimator system
- ABS Evo
- Side Slip Control 9.0
These systems improve precision and stability during aggressive driving.
The suspension includes Multimatic shock absorbers in certain configurations. Ferrari has also fitted new tyres, including Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2R, which improve grip by 3 percent.
Brakes A large 410 mm front disc has been used to improve stopping power.
Assetto Fiorano Package
Ferrari offers the Asesetto Fiorano Package for drivers who want maximum track performance.

This package reduces the car’s weight by 30 kg:
- Carbon and titanium components are added.
- Lightweight tubular racing seats (18 kg lighter)
- Optional carbon fiber wheels
Aerodynamic upgrades include twin rear wings that triple rear downforce compared to the standard version.
Stiffer suspension reduces body roll by 10 percent. Exclusive racing liveries add visual distinction.
This version is heavily focused on track use.
