Harley Davidson X440T front profile

The old Harley-Davidson X440 always had a nice XR1200-inspired front end, but the rear end felt incomplete. The new 2025 Harley has fixed that with the all-new X440T, introducing an upgraded, better-looking, feature-rich version that finally feels complete.

The most notable improvement comes at the rear. Harley has redesigned the rear subframe and added new panels, along with a cleaner tail light, fresh grab rails, and a reprofiled seat that gives the bike a proper XR stance. The exhaust has also been updated with a new heat shield and end can, which helps give it a more premium and sporty look. The tank now gets XR-style sporty graphics instead of the previous badge, and the front end receives subtle updates like a refined LED headlight panel, better finished handlebar risers, bar-end mirrors and revised grips. A small new panel near the tank reduces the rear gap and gives the bike a more spacious look. Other finishing updates include metal heel plates, new foot pegs, updated brake levers, better quality bolts and an overall more polished chassis. The bike feels sharper, sleeker and more premium. The Harley-Davidson X440 will be available in four glossy colours : blue, red, white and black, with the blue shade standing out especially in sunlight.

The biggest mechanical upgrade on the Harley-Davidson X440 is the switch to the ride-by-wire throttle, which unlocks two riding modes : Road and Rain, along with traction control and switchable rear ABS. In Road mode, torque kicks in earlier, making the bike feel quicker and more responsive. Rain mode softens the throttle and keeps the bike in control on slippery surfaces. The engine delivers smoother power in the mid-range, cruises comfortably on the highway, and also sounds better thanks to an improved tune that adds subtle pops and crackles during downshifts. The traction control is well-behaved, not unnecessarily intrusive in Road mode but becomes more active in Rain mode for safety.

Harley has also improved the suspension based on feedback from the previous model. The front end is no longer as high off the bottom, and the overall damping feels more comfortable. Despite weighing over 180 kg, the bike hides its weight well while moving and feels stable and predictable while handling. The ergonomics remain familiar and comfortable.

A new Panic Brake Light Alert system has also been introduced in the X440T, which rapidly flashes all the hazard lights during hard braking. The 3.5-inch TFT screen remains but remains clear, easy to use, and supports Bluetooth features like call alerts, SMS notifications, battery status and music controls.

Priced at ₹2.79 lakh (ex-showroom), the X440T is priced at around ₹24,000 more than the top-end X440 variant. The base spoke-wheel variant has been discontinued. Even though Harley and Hero have absorbed the GST 2.0 price hike, the X440T is still priced above rivals like the Classic 350, Speed 400 and Triumph Scrambler 400X.

Overall, the Harley-Davidson X440T finally delivers on the promise of the original X440. It looks better, feels more premium, rides more confidently, and is packed with useful modern features. In many ways, this is the motorcycle the X440 should have been from the start.
