Honda has finally unveiled its first all-electric SUV for India, the Honda Zero Alpha Concept. The SUV has been showcased in prototype form, but it looks almost production-ready. Designed as part of Honda’s new global Zero Series, the Zero Alpha marks the brand’s serious entry into the electric car segment for India.
Design and Dimensions
The Honda Zero Alpha stands out with its bold and straightforward SUV design, like a car of the future. It features 19-inch alloy wheels, flared wheel arches, and a tall, vertical rear end that emphasizes interior space. The wheelbase is around 2800 mm, which should translate into a spacious cabin with generous legroom and headroom, which Honda is already known for. The ground clearance will also be higher than usual, making it a good fit for Indian roads.
Zero Alpha Viewed from the rear, the SUV sports a U-shaped LED tail-light design, which adds a futuristic touch. Its overall stance is straight, not coupe-like, which maximizes luggage capacity and passenger comfort. The front end is characterized by sleek LED lighting elements with a clean, bluff nose, representing Honda’s new electric design language.
Powertrain and battery
The Zero Alpha will come with a single-motor front-wheel-drive (FWD) setup. While official specifications are yet to be confirmed, battery options between 60 kWh and 75 kWh are expected. The SUV will use LFP (lithium iron phosphate) batteries sourced from China, a smart choice for India’s hot climate and cost-sensitive market.
Platform and production
Interestingly, the Zero Alpha will not replace the Honda Elevate or have an Elevate EV variant. Instead, it will be sold alongside the Elevate as an entirely new global model. The Zero Alpha SUV will be manufactured at Honda’s Tapukara plant in Rajasthan, and is also expected to be exported to international markets from India.

Launch and expected price
Honda plans to launch the Zero Alpha in India by 2027, which will position it in the mid-size electric SUV segment. Expected rivals include the Maruti Suzuki EVX (Electric Vitara), the Zero Alpha is expected to be priced between ₹25-30 lakh* in India.
