
Maruti Suzuki will officially launch a new mid-size SUV called Escudo for the Indian market on September 3, 2025. The Escudo model will be sold through Maruti’s Arena dealerships and will be positioned between the Brezza and Grand Vitara in Maruti’s lineup. The Escudo will compete directly with popular models like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.

Level-2 ADAS: This will be the first Maruti Escudo car in India to come with Level-2 ADAS, which aims to enhance safety compared to its segment rivals.
Dolby Atmos technology: The Escudo will be offered with Dolby Atmos audio technology.
Powertrain
The SUV will share engines with the Grand Vitara, and expected options include.
1.5L naturally aspirated petrol.
1.5L petrol-hybrid.
CNG variant is also likely.
4WD (four-wheel drive) will be offered on higher trims.

Although the official price has not been announced by Maruti Suzuki yet, it is expected to start at around ₹9.7–₹9.75 lakh (ex-showroom), which is in the same price bracket as the Grand Vitara.

Brand and naming context
The Escudo name is known internationally as the Japanese-market name for the Vitara elsewhere and was trademarked in India last year.

There is also mention of an all-electric variant, which could be the e-Escudo, which was previewed at the Auto Expo 2025, although current official media attention is focused on the petrol and hybrid Escudo.
