5 New SUVs Launching in India by February 2026: From New-Gen Duster to 7-Seater Volkswagen

The Indian car market loves SUVs. And it demands them. Sedans are quietly disappearing, hatchbacks are fighting for relevance, and SUVs are doing exactly what they’re meant to do: selling in huge numbers.

By February 2026, India will see five major SUV launches, ranging from rugged off-roaders to electric crossovers and premium seven-seaters. Some of these cars have been talked about for years. Others are finally happening because brands can no longer afford to wait.

1. MG Majestor (Gloster-Based SUV) – Finally Arriving in February 2026

If patience were a car, MG would sell it with this one.

MG has showcased this Gloster-based SUV multiple times over the last few years. The model is not brand-new globally, but for India, it matters a lot. MG needs it, badly.

Why This Launch Matters

The standard MG Gloster has lost traction in India. Buyers in this segment are shifting toward alternatives like the Skoda Kodiaq. MG required a fresh push, and this SUV is that attempt.

Expected Launch

  • Confirmed launch date: 12 February 2026

Design Changes

  • More upright and straighter front bumper
  • Improved approach angles
  • Slimmer headlamps
  • New grille design
  • Larger alloy wheels
  • Connected LED tail lamps
  • Chunkier rear diffuser

The side profile remains familiar, but the overall stance looks tougher and more upright.

Interior Updates

MG has focused more on refinement than reinvention:

  • Grey-black interior theme
  • Thicker centre console
  • Rotary knobs for drive modes and AC
  • Floating touchscreen
  • Panoramic sunroof
  • Ventilated seats

Engine & Performance

  • 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel
  • Around 230 hp
  • Same mechanical setup as the Gloster

Expected Price

  • Around ₹45 lakh (ex-showroom)
  • Roughly ₹5 lakh more than the standard Gloster

Will It Sell?

Opinion: Yes, but only initially.

It may do decent numbers for 4–5 months. Long-term success remains doubtful because the vehicle still carries MPV-like DNA while trying to position itself as a hardcore off-roader.

2. Toyota Urban Cruiser EV (EBL) – Toyota’s Version of the eVitara

Electric SUVs are no longer optional. Toyota knows this, but its execution has been slow.

What Is the EBL?

The Toyota Urban Cruiser EBL is Toyota’s version of the Maruti Suzuki eVitara. Mechanically and structurally, both cars are nearly identical.

Battery & Variants

  • 49 kWh battery
  • 61 kWh battery
  • Three variant options

Design Differences

  • Slight changes in front and rear lighting
  • Toyota badging
  • Minor bumper tweaks

Apart from that, nearly 99% of the vehicle remains the same.

Why the Delay?

The delay seems strategic.

When this EV was first discussed, the expected base price was close to ₹20 lakh. Since then, competitors entered the segment with better features and stronger value propositions. Toyota and Maruti likely paused to reposition pricing.

Expected Launch Timeline

  • Official launch expected in 2026

Expected Pricing

  • Likely lower than initial ₹20 lakh expectations
  • Positioned competitively against feature-rich rivals

Renault Duster (New Generation)

Few names carry as much weight in India as Duster. Renault knows this and plans to use it wisely.

Platform & Design

  • Built on the new Renault-Nissan global platform
  • Rugged, off-road-inspired styling
  • Uses around 20% recycled materials

This isn’t just nostalgia. It’s a serious reboot.

Interior Highlights

  • Floating infotainment screen
  • Fully digital instrument cluster
  • Heavy cladding for rugged appeal
  • Panoramic sunroof

Powertrain Options

Globally, four powertrains exist. For India:

  • 1.3-litre turbo petrol
  • Hybrid option on the naturally aspirated engine
  • 4WD with e-motor support (select variants)

Launch Timeline

  • Minor unveilings and details expected around February 2026

Expected Pricing

Opinion:
If Renault starts pricing around ₹13 lakh, this SUV could sell extremely well—even if it doesn’t overload features.

Why Renault Is Serious

  • Strong brand recall
  • Export plans from India
  • Clear positioning as a rugged SUV

4. Nissan’s Premium Sibling to Duster

This SUV shares its core with the new Duster but aims at a different buyer.

Design Philosophy

  • Body-coloured bumpers
  • Sleeker dual-tone alloy wheels
  • Cleaner, premium-focused exterior

Interior Approach

  • More refined upholstery
  • Premium materials
  • Less rugged, more urban feel

Market Reality

History matters. Nissan’s earlier attempts in this segment failed to gain traction in India.

Pricing & Launch

  • Expected to launch around February 2026
  • Likely priced similar to the Duster

Opinion:
Despite solid fundamentals, the Duster will outsell this sibling simply because of brand trust.

5. Volkswagen Tayron (7-Seater SUV)

Volkswagen made a mistake with the Tiguan Allspace by importing it as a CBU. High prices killed its potential.

This time, VW is correcting that.

What’s Different Now

  • Local assembly in India
  • More realistic pricing
  • Stronger positioning against Skoda Kodiaq

Design Highlights

  • Aggressive R-Line inspired bumpers
  • 19-inch performance alloys
  • Sporty rear diffuser

Interior Features

  • Large digital screens
  • Premium ambient lighting
  • Performance-focused cabin design

Positioning

  • Skoda Kodiaq → Luxury focus
  • Volkswagen Tayron → Performance focus

Expected Price

  • Around ₹45 lakh (ex-showroom)

Important Note

Volkswagen may discontinue the standard Tiguan once the Tayron launches.
