
Xiaomi YU7 Electric SUV Launched Internationally, Receives Over 2.4 Lakh Bookings in 18 Hours.
Chinese tech giant Xiaomi has launched its YU7 electric SUV in international markets, Xiaomi has received a tremendous response from customers, YU7 is considered a rival to Tesla’s Model Y, this SUV has received over 2.4 lakh orders in just 18 hours of its bookings.
Xiaomi YU7 Launch Details and Price
Xiaomi YU7 SUV is scheduled to be launched on 26 June 2025, YU7 starts at ¥253,500 (approximately ₹30.3 lakh) in China, making it about 4% cheaper than Tesla Model Y. YU7 is offered in both rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) options along with several other variants.
The standard RWD variant gets 315 bhp and a range of up to 835 km.
The Pro AWD variant gets 489 bhp and a range of 770 km.
The max AWD variant gets 690 bhp and a 0-100 km/h time of 2.98 seconds and a range of 760 km.
Xiaomi YU7 Booking frenzy breaks records
Xiaomi opened pre-orders with a refundable deposit of ¥5,000, with over 200,000 bookings made by customers in just 3 minutes. And in an hour, the bookings went up to 289,000, and finally 240,000 bookings were made by customers in the first 18 hours, and it can be called a big achivment for a new debut electric vehicle.
Xiaomi offered a special ₹20,000 deposit option to prioritize delivery, which sold out almost immediately.

Xiaomi YU7 High-end features and performance
The Xiaomi YU7 SUV has several high-end features that give it an edge over many existing electric SUVs in its class, including an ultra-quiet interior with acoustic glass, a smart ecosystem integrated with Xiaomi’s tech, fast charging that can charge the battery from 10-80% in 12 minutes, and a range of 620 km in just 15 minutes with fast charging.
Market impact
The launch of the Xiaomi YU7 SUV has had a significant impact on the EV market, with Xiaomi’s shares rising over 8% on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange after the launch. Analysts believe that the aggressive pricing and high specifications pose a serious threat to Tesla and other established EV players in China like BYD and Nio.
According to auto industry experts, Tesla may be forced to respond with price cuts or additional incentives.
Xiaomi YU7 Production and delivery timeline
Production of the YU7 has already begun at Xiaomi’s new Beijing F2 facility, with deliveries expected to begin in July 2025. Xiaomi aims to deliver over 350,000 EVs in 2025, marking a bold shift from a smartphone brand to a full-scale EV manufacturer.
